Aging and Disabled Adults Resource Center
Cajun Area
Agency on Aging, Inc., the Governor’s
Office of Elderly Affairs, and the Department of Health
and Hospitals formed a partnership to establish an
Aging and Disabled Adults Resource Center. The Center
will offer a “one-stop-shop” for public
and private programs at the community level that will
help individuals make informed decisions about their
service and support options. It will also serve as
an access point to the long-term service and support
system. The purpose of the Center will be to provide
better coordination and/or redesign the existing systems
of information, assistance, and access, which currently
involve multiple federal, state and local programs.
The impact of the Center on the current system will
be to increase utilization of existing alternative
services. It is also expected that as awareness of
community options increases, consumer demand for services
will influence long-term care funding decisions.
