Hurricane Ida message from Louisiana EMDAC
August 28, 2021
From Louisiana EMDAC (Emergency Management Disability & Aging Coalition):
Many people with disabilities depend on electricity to survive. Due to the surge of COVID positive patients in the hospitals, it is possible that a hospital will not have capacity to accept people who require assistance from devices that depend on electricity. If you are in this situation, you might consider evacuating to a place or area that is not expected to lose electricity. Call 211 for sheltering information and listen to your local officials. For Hurricane Ida updates, text Ida to 67283.
